The mountain was first
climbed in the 1960s by an expedition led by Heinrich Harrer, of Eiger
North Wall fame along with New Zealand author & climber Philip
Temple.
Cartensz pyramid located in
the heart of Jayawijaya mountain range in the Indonesian territory of
Irian Jaya, which now called Western Papua. Carstensz Pyramid is part
of Lorenze National Park and Sudirman range. Condition & weather is
unpredictable; it can be 1-3 days raining, snowing, and cloudy. Our
base camp to summit track condition is sand, Rock, sliding rock, water
slide, & sometimes snow. The climb is on beautiful, sharp lime

October 2010 we climbed Carstensz Pyramid with Adventurindo. We didn't know this organization. So it was for us a bit of a gamble (that's what we thought in the Netherlands). After the first E-mails we found out, that they replied " to the point". Stephant gave us the exact information we needed. Even for the more complicated questions about medical issues we got a good answer. So, our confidence increased.
From the end of 2009 till the start of our expedition on October 2010 did we had very good mail-contact with Adventurindo Tours and Travels. We (The, Peter and Harry) fly in from Nabire to Illaga together with our guides Stephant, Jeffrey and Joshua where we start our expedition. The communication with the local people and the acquiring of the permits over there looks.
