The Sangalaki Island marine reserve consist of a coral archipelago in East Kalimantan province. The Marine Park has an area of 280 ha. The main attraction of the park is its beautiful underwater world.

Kakaban. Has a salt water lake around 5 sq ft kilometres. The only sample of this kind of lake only found that in Palau, Micronesia. The sea surrounding Kakaban Island is home of Barracuda

Maratua is the home of the barracudas. This kind of fish is easily be seen underwater.
Other islands of the archipelago are the domains of sea birds.

Derawan Island and Maratua Island are the Islands where the Bajau people live. Banjar and Kutai Dayak also live on these two islands, while the other islands of the archipelago are not inhabited.

Itinerary:

• Wednesday - By Silkair to Balikpapan, arrival at 10:15, port of entry to Indonesia, transit immediately to domestic for Berau by Kalstar 11:20, arrival to Berau at 12:30, transfer by speed boat from Berau to Sangalaki Island, approximately 2 hours traveling time, aboard MV. Sea Dancer follow by Live Aboard orientation, check out dive in the afternoon, night dive available at request, dinner and overnight on board.
• Thuesday - In the morning after breakfast, 07:30 hrs, 1st dive in Sangalaki Island, surface interval 10:30 hrs follow by 2nd dive in Sangalaki Island, lunch, 3rd dive at 15:00 hrs at Sangalaki Island, surface interval, at 18:00 hrs follow by dust dive, dinner and overnight on board.
• Fri day-In the morning after breakfast, 07:30 hrs, 1st dive in Sangalaki Island, surface interval 1030 hrs follow by 2nd dive in Sangalaki Island, lunch, 3rd dive at 15:00 hrs at Sangalaki Island, surface interval, at 18:00 hrs follow by night dive, option for visiting Sangalaki Island to watch turtles come to shore and nest at night, will be guided by park rangers, dinner and overnight on board.
• Sat urday - Live Aboard cruise to Kakaban Island, 1st dive at 08:00 hrs, surface interval follow by trekking to Kakaban jelly fish lake (about 10 mins walk) snorkeling for an hour with non-stinging jelly fish, after at 11:30 hrs 2nd dive at Kakaban Island, lunch, 15:30 last dive for the day, no night dive on this day as conditions of dive site not suitable duel to current, dinner Live Aboard cruise to Maratua Island, about 1 hrs traveling time, overnight on board.
• Sun day-Morning after breakfast, 1st dive in Maratua Island, surface interval, 2nd dive and lunch, Live Aboard cruise to Sangalaki Island (About 2 hrs traveling time) upon arrival 3rd dive in Sangalaki island, night dive available, dinner and overnight on board.
  Note: For diving in Maratua and Kakaban Island, some of the dive site has to be plan accordingly with the tides as most of the dives are drift diving.
• Monday - After breakfast, 1st dive at 07:00 hrs (Sangalaki Island) follow by surface interval, last dive Sangalaki Island) at 10:00 hrs-followed lunch, Live aboard cruise to Berau, (about 8 hrs traveling time) dinner and overnight on board.
• Tuesday - After breakfast, 06:45 hrs transfer from Live Aboard to Berau airport (about 30 min traveling time) for Kalstar at 08:40 hrs departure & arrival to Balikpapan at 10:00 hrs, transfer from airport to Blue Sky Hotel Balikpapan, Free and Easy, lunch and dinner at own expenses, optional city tour available.
• Wednesday - After breakfast, check out for Blue Sky Hotel and transfer to Balikpapan Airport for International flight with Silkair (departure at 11:15 hrs to Singapore) arrival to Singapore at 13:30 hrs. End of program.
